Neon's Dead is a thunderous electro-funk affair deliciously topped by the glacial and detached vocals of Kiki Moorse. Some superb vocoder work plus a bass line that evokes memories of Shriekback & Chakk (remember them?) from the mid 80's. The full length version does an interesting about turn halfway through and changes into a far more electronic based groove rather like 'White Wedding' did back in the day with parts 1 & 2. Nice concept Mr Toffee! This single also comes with the brilliant 'Door Policy' with again the ice cool spoken vocals of Kiki explaining about, yes you've guessed it.. Door Policy. This track goes completely 'hatstand' at the end, sheer lunacy that Matty Toffee does so well. Great stuff!

Was kann nach der Grellheit kommen? Während der Sound dieses Remixes die stromschimmernde Eleganz von Kraftwerks »Computerliebe« zitiert, dreht Kiki Moorse im Text – geschrieben in der von »My Favourite Things« bis »Subterranean Homesick Blues« und »Vogue« reichenden Tradition des List Songs – den Dimmer runter: »No more Yasukuni-dori / No more bombarding transformer / No more Chicks On Speed / No more lighted palm trees / No more beer signs / No more neon sculptures / No more Bruce Nauman«. Ein nonchalanter Abgesang auf alles, was beim Buhlen um Aufmerksamkeit auf die Logik des ›Heller, Strahlender, Blitzender‹ setzt, und zugleich eine Mutmaßung daru?ber, wie schön dezent es sein könnte – im Dunkeln.
