Tenek is a brand new project hailing from the UK. Behind the name hides the duo Geoff Pinckney (The Nine, Alien 6…) and Pete Steer (Alien 6, Glasshouse…). Tenek is their newest project, which again delivers an exploration in synth-pop music. While they seem to be busy working on their debut-cd and are still in search of a label, we here get the 4 first songs of Tenek. The opening cut "State Of Mind" starts in a rather powerful electro-pop way and for sure has some potential. In between the more melancholic piece entitled "Lifeline" and the instrumental "Icefields" we still get another promising song entitled "If I Should Fall". It sounds quite common and without knowing who's involved in Tenek I would have swear to hear a Swedish pop band here. This is acceptable synth-pop, but let's wait for more songs to see what Tenek is able to.

Peter Steer and Geoff Pinckney have both been in several UK bands throughout the years (both have supporting Gary Numan at various times) and this limited 4 track EP sees them reuniting as Tenek. The duo's 80's influences are evident throughout although these are mixed with a more modern feel and while this can make for a slightly minimalistic feel at times there's no doubting the infectious qualities of 'If I Should Fall' and 'State Of Mind' or the funky guitar riffs that grace the instrumental 'Ice Fields', making this hopefully the first of many musical delights from Tenek.
